There are contrasting variants of Central Heating boiler
Different types of Gas Central Heating Systems are available in the market. These systems for the most part are made up of a number of radiators, pipework and of course a gas gas boiler.
People in the United Kingdom, Europe and some parts of Russia, hardly need an air conditioner because of the low average temperature. Many of us find proper heating a necessity; as a result most of the new homes being constructed today are built with a Central Heating System.
A reliable Gas Central Heating system is important to keep your home warm especially during winter months. A heated home has a comfortable and enjoyable feel to it. Your Central Heating System must be fault free as much as possible and efficient to cut bills. You should feel that your Gas Central Heating System is safe, easy to use and long lasting.
Pumped/vented and sealed are the two main types of Gas Central Heating Systems on the market.
You will find pumped/vented systems in most homes at the moment. A pumped/vented Gas Central Heating System has a feed and expansion tank. The hot water tank performs two functions; firstly, supply hot water to your house, and secondly, provides heat to the heating radiators. The expansion tank has enough space to allow for the expanding of water as a result of heating. You will most likely find the expansion tank kept in the highest part of the house. It heats the house and doubles as the water supply.
A lot of older homes have pumped/vented Central Heating systems.
A slightly newer central heating boiler is sealed heating system and this is the preferred heating system in newer properties. As the name suggests, sealed system is a closed system; no tank is required in this system. The attic has no tanks or piping, the system is completely enclosed and locked, it’s not ventilated, and that has its advantages:.
- As there are no pipes, they cannot freeze up in the attic.
- No maintenance work on the tank or pipes that would be in the attic in a pumped/vented system.
- Reduces the risk of leaking.
- Reduced risk of air locks, corrosion and sludge as there isn’t a chance of air being drawn down into the system through open vents as the system is sealed.
- If necessary, the system can be flushed out under pressure using the main water supply.
The sealed Gas Central Heating system is a fully packaged system with all the controls and safety devices already in place. A sealed Central Heating System uses water that comes directly from the main water supply. It feeds directly from the main water supply.
Pressure variation can be regulated by a pressure vessel holding compressed gas; the hot water is pressurized by a diaphragm which also separates the water from the compressed gas. A safety valve will let water to escape or fill up depending on whether the pressure becomes too high or too low respectively.
As compared to other heating systems, Central Heating systems are cheaper to run. Their ease of operation and versatility is much better than other types of heating.
