The wintertime is coming in so get a central heating system
We should all prepare for the wintertime months as the weather gets colder and the days shorter by having good gas central heating in our homes. There’s nothing cosier than a warm room while a blizzard rages outdoors, and this warmth is best provided by a sturdy and efficient gas central heating system.
A gas central heating system is basically a boiler with pipes carrying the heat to radiators placed in all the rooms; these systems can be of the pumped or vented type.
Pumped systems are probably the more common ones and their main part is a feed expansion tank which acts as the centre core by heating up itself first to subsequently warm up the heaters via the pipes. The expansion tank might fill up at times because of water expansion.
There is also what is known as a sealed system in which no centre core is used to heat the heating radiators. Water tanks are not required here because it is a closed system. The major benefits from this type of system, is that it essentially lessens the risk of leaking and stops other possible problems such airlocks, one of the better benefits, especially for colder countries is that there is no risk of pipes freezing up.
You may ask why you need gas central heating and what are its rewards?.
The major advantage of gas central heating is that the home or work space can be quickly, uniformly and efficiently heated without compromising the quality of air in your environment. Conventional heaters like gas fires, electric heaters and storage heaters are also quite effective. But the main disadvantages with these, were that they made the air somewhat dry and hard, as well as letting off a slight odour.
These air quality issues were eliminated by gas central heating; but such a desirable environment can be ensured only by periodic servicing of the central heating system to keep it running efficiently and safely. In many households, these systems are not used during the summer, but as soon as the winters set in, they are intensely used; this should not be done. Try to switch on your heating system during autumn so that if there is any defect, it can be fixed well before wintertimes approach and fixed at a time when the plumbers are less busy.
Furthermore, some of these systems also give admission to air and dirt; therefore draining is a necessity, which should be done regularly with an annual service schedule. To flush the system, open the valve carefully and drain the collected water into a bucket, while ensuring that no further water gets into the heating system.
