Study a combination gas boiler if you own a small-scale dwelling house

Combi gas boiler systems offer many room saving and gas efficiency benefits for the small-scale household. You only need a combination gas boiler and balanced flue to fit a full central heating system without any other parts. Add in radiators and copper pipe and you are then able to warm your dwelling house. You might ask whether we had missed some components out of this statement. What about the water pump, the hot water storage tank and the feed and enlargement cylinder.

Surprisingly a combi boiler does not require any of these pieces. With a combi you can dispense with the hot water storage tank, you do not require a feed and expansion tank up in the loft, and the other small components are already built into the heating boiler. This removes the need for a lot of components, which take up a lot of storage space in your household.

The combination boiler is not new. The combination has been more popular in the Continent than in the U.K., but is now being installed more frequently as an alternative to the conventional wall mounted boiler. It is has two major divergences with the system and typical type of boilers. The first point to highlight is that the circulating hot water for the central heating is within a fully sealed system. The advantage of this is that there is no need to fit a feed and expansion cylinder in the loft. Incorporation of a hot water storage vessel within the heating boiler also removes any need for the hot water storage cylinder.

Hot water is only created as it is called for, turning on a hot water valve will alert the heating boiler to this need. An efficient internal heat exchanger is used to quickly heat up cold water. The heat exchanger is heated by diverting circulating hot water from the central heating system. In this way brand-new mains cold water is rapidly heated before reaching the hot water tap.

The heating boiler design gives priority to producing immediate hot water. Once the tap is shut and the need for hot water is eliminated the system will return to providing hot water to the radiators.

It is feasible to set up a new boiler in a small-scale flat and not need a large amount of room.
