Do not overlook central heating cover policies
Do not overlook central heating cover policies
Today most possessions, right from pets to mobile phones, are covered by insurance policies. Insurance takes on more importance for some items like motor vehicles and even machinery, where it is required by law. Buildings insurance is required by the finance lender when an individual takes out a home mortgage. Insurance offers security against unanticipated events that can severely affect life and property.
If we move our attention to risks which are less important then we would meet products such as central heating insurance, protection products which are offered by the likes of British Gas, npower, Eon and Homeserve. The central heating system insurance is obviously not as important as your home insurance, but its important nonetheless as fixing it can cost you a fortune if you have an unexpected gas boiler or heating failure. The other problem is that actually getting someone to repair it can take time, and living without hot water or heating is no fun, especially in winter. If there is a problem or if your system has not been properly maintained there are chances of producing potentially dangerous carbon monoxide, due to a fault in the central heating system.
A wide choice of plans exist in the market for both gas boiler servicing and central heating repair. The simplest plans are those that include just the minimum requirements with yearly servicing and safety inspections. In such a plan, the cost of repair and spare parts is separately billed, some of the better quality plans include this enhanced cover. If your central heating system is no longer under guarantee and you only have a basic plan you could upgrade to cover that includes spare parts and repairs for just a little extra money. This extra money each month is well spent when a heating boiler is getting close to the end of its working life. You can extend your policy to cover other things too, besides the boiler like radiators and other parts of the central heating system or even plumbing, drains and home electrics cover.
One thing to watch out for when choosing a policy is any exemptions or limits written into the policy document. The insurance provider may set a ceiling cost for all repairs and spare parts within a year, or fix a limitation on how many house calls they will entertain. As with all types of insurance, don’t just choose the cheapest premium without making sure the level of cover is adequate.
