Determine what form of heating boiler you need
Gas Central Heating systems come in different configurations. Almost all these systems have a central heating boiler at the core, with pipework connecting it to central heating radiators.
Due to the average temperature that is seen across the United Kingdom and northern Europe , people barely find the need for air conditioning. Central Heating is more in demand particularly in the chilly wintertime, making a Central Heating System an absolute must-have for all modern houses and all those located in the United Kingdom.
As autumn fades and chilly winds begin to blow, householders turn to their Gas Central Heating for warmth and comfort. A well heated house can help create a comfortable space for you to enjoy with your family. For this, you need a reliable central heating boiler in your Central Heating system. You Central Heating System must give you the feeling of confidence that it is safe, simple to use with a long life.
Gas Central Heating system can be divided into two broad categories, pumped/vented systems and sealed systems.
Pumped/vented systems are the ones that many homes have and they have the most components resulting in potentially higher maintenance costs. Heating systems using the pump or vent process are equipped with a tank to allow for feeding of replacement water and expansion of heated water. The hot water storage tank provides your home with warm water and brings heat to the heating radiators. Water expands when heated; this expansion is accommodated in a feed-expansion tank. You will most likely find the expansion tank kept in the highest part of the house. It serves a dual purpose by heating the house and also supplying heated water.
A pumped/vented Central Heating System is what most homes probably have, especially those built many years earlier.
A Sealed Central Heating System is a relatively modern technology, and is being adopted by many homeowners today. No water tanks are needed for a Sealed system as it is a completely closed setup saving space. There are no pipework or tanks also in the attic, the system is sealed in the true sense and it has its own advantages.
- No risk of freezing pipes in the attic.
- attic space is freed up and pipe maintenance is reduced.
- The risk of leakage is decreased as there are fewer pipes and the system is less complex.
- Reduced risk of airlocks, corrosion and sludge as there isn’t a chance of air being drawn down into the system through open vents as the system is sealed.
- Can be easily rinsed out under pressure via the main water supply.
A sealed Gas Central Heating System is a packaged unit with all the necessary controls and safety devices. The sealed system gets its water through the main water supply at pressure. There is no hot water tank, so water is drawn directly from the main supply.
Pressure variation can be regulated by a pressure vessel holding compressed gas; the hot water is pressurized by a diaphragm which also separates the water from the compressed gas. Pressure buildup in a Sealed system can be relieved by a safety valve which drains out water; and pressure drop is compensated by automatic fresh intake of water via another valve.
As compared to other heating systems, Central Heating systems are cheaper to run. They also offer you all round control which is more than most heating systems do.
